Illustrator CC Essential Training 2015

I’m working on a new course called Illustrator CC Essential Training 2015. In Lesson 1, I learned what Adobe Illustrator is. I toured the Illustrator interface.

In Lesson 1, I explored the Illustrator’s Tools panel.

I created new documents. I modified and saved my documents.

I settled up my Illustrator preferences. In Lesson 2, I navigated a single document. I navigated through multiple documents. I worked with Illustrator’s panels. I builded and saved my own workspace. I understand screen modes. They were Normal, Full screen with Menu Bar, and Full Screen modes. I created and used custom views.

I made this by going to View> Guides> Lock Guides. I locked and hid artwork.

Went up to File>New, then increase the artboard number to 6 and the spacing to 1 in. I explored the Artboard’s panel.Screen Shot 2016-12-08 at 9.32.23 AM.png

Click on the Rectangle tool, and filled in the rectangles with color from the Swatches panel. I added artboards on the fly. Screen Shot 2016-12-08 at 9.47.44 AM.png

I clicked on the Artboard tool and clicked on the New Artboard command and drag three down by the original image. I manipulated artboards with the Artboard tool.

In Lesson 3, I exported my artboards as files. In Lesson 4, I explored the Layers panel. I created and edited layers.Screen Shot 2016-12-09 at 10.20.19 AM.png

I added two new layers, renamed them, and change the color of the selection outline.

In Lesson 4, I targeted objects inside the Layers panel. I worked with sublayers. I hid, locked, and deleted layers. Started with this image…Screen Shot 2016-12-12 at 10.26.32 AM.png

In Lesson 4, I learned tips for organizing my artwork using layers.

In Lesson 6, I used the Direct Selection tool.

I grouped objects together. I used isolation mode to edit grouped artwork.

In Lesson 6, I moved and duplicated objects.

I scaled objects.

I rotated objects.

I distorted and transformed objects. I used the Transform Each command.

I added strokes to objects.

In Lesson 7, I added gradient strokes to objects.

In Lesson 8, I understand CMYK vs RGB color. I adjusted Illustrator’s color settings. I understand process vs global swatches.

I made a new color called Bulldog Red and it’s the one that has a white square around it.

I made a new group called Bulldog Colors and added red, tan, grey, and black from the image. I learned how to import Adobe Color themes.

In Lesson 8, I loaded ASE files into Illustrator. In Lesson 9, I explored the Appearance panel.

In Lesson 10, I created compound paths and shapes.

In Lesson 10, I worked with the Pathfinder panel.

I used Illustrator’s Brush tools. I used the Eraser tool.

In Lesson 10, I created artwork with the Shape Builder tool.

In Lesson 11, I did a tracing exercise.

In Lesson 12, I created point and area type objects.

In Lesson 12, I made basic edits with the Control panel.

In Lesson 12, I flowed text around objects.

I learned essential type shortcuts. They were Shift>Command> less than or greater than for making the text smaller or bigger. Shift>Option>Command> less than or greater than for making the text bigger or smaller by 10. Option and up and down arrow keys for leading. And Option and right and left arrow keys for tracking.

I learned how to add Typeset desktop fonts to Illustrator. I converted text into paths. I did that by selecting the type and going to Type>Create Outline.

In Lesson 13, I placed linked images into Illustrator.

I made a circle, placed it over the subject’s face, went to Object>Clipping Mask>Make.

I placed this image onto a new document. Made some adjustments with the Image Trace panel. I converted pixels into paths.
